The Westford Turkey Trot is an annual running tradition that was started so long ago that the ladies who started the event can’t remember when they started it.  Best guess is around 1990.  The ladies do remember how it evolved.  Apparently these ladies made dinner and provided parent workshops and support for families of Westford once a week for several years!  Funding to support the dinners was needed and the Westford Turkey Trot was born.

Today, the race hosts approximately 200 runners and has excellent community and sponsor support.

Proceeds from the race continue to benefit The Westford Committee for Children and Families.  Funds are used for a variety of needs within the community:  holiday food baskets, concerts on the common, children with financial need for summer camps, winter ski programs, sports equipment for the school and town recreation committee,  school  Nature Program and Robotics Club,  and other miscellaneous needs.  Funds for children and families with specific needs are frequently provided through coordination with the school counselor and are anonymous.

We love helping whenever possible and we appreciate the support of the volunteers and the community that make this event so successful.
